Colin Ellmore was a member of Lincoln Motor Cycle and Car Club and an active competitor for many years in the 1950-1970’s. He is listed as one of the first officers of the club when it became a limited company in 1977 and held many roles in the club during his time including board member, Chairman and President. Alongside this he carried out many roles on events such as marshal, steward, and sometimes Clerk of the Course.

He was a successful driver in numerous club events, mostly in his Mk1 Mini Cooper 998 which was his favourite car, having previously rallied a Jowitt Javelin and a DKW amongst others.

In his retirement he slowed down from car and took up the much more sedate sport of Golf, but he still enjoyed a few laps in the passenger seat on a trackday or a ride down the road with his sons.

To honour Colin’s memory the Lincoln Motor Cycle and Car Club Ltd have secured the use of Deenethorpe Airfield to run this event.

Many competitors will remember The Bloodhound Stages that the club ran at ex RAF Swinderby and now some of the team have come out of retirement to bring Deenethorpe back into the motorsport fold, the venue was used as a stage on the 1994 Rutland Stages Rally.
